Blackmount Foods Ltd. is based in the picturesque border town of Biggar. The beef and lamb sold is all produced on our own farm and slaughtered in Shotts, our nearest facility, before being brought back to Biggar for processing. We also source chicken and pork from reputable sources, and of, course, our products are organic. The only exceptions are our game products, which are wild, and cooked meats, which although from organic stock are cooked in premises which are not registered with an organic body. This prevents them from being classed as ‘organic’.

 

Most of our producers are registered with SOPA and the cutting plant is registered by Organic Farmers & Growers (OF&G), ensuring that the highest standards of quality and organic status are maintained. All processes are carefully monitored and inspected by meat hygiene service and OF&G inspectors.

 

As most of our products come from local farms we have branded our meat under the trading name of  ‘Blackmount Organics’. All our meats are fully traceable back to the source of origin.

 

Within our modern plant, experienced butchers prepare the cuts of meat after it has been properly aged, to give a tasty and tender meal. With the use of vacuum packing we can also give assurances on food safety that are so important to today’s discerning consumer.
